Is BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo right for you?

Consider DHTI Control Shampoo if you've noticed:

  • Hair gradually looking finer or less dense
  • A part or crown becoming more visible
  • More hair than you'd like coming away during washing or brushing
  • An oily or congested-feeling scalp alongside thinning-looking hair
  • You want a scalp-focused shampoo rather than simply a volumising shampoo

When a shampoo isn't the answer

Sudden hair loss, patchy hair loss, significant scalp inflammation or unexplained changes in hair density should be discussed with a GP, dermatologist or other qualified healthcare professional.

Scalp care designed for thinning-looking hair

Targeted scalp ingredients

Capixyl™

A combination of Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 and Red Clover Extract developed specifically for scalp and hair-density formulations.

Keeps the scalp clear

Salicylic Acid

Helps exfoliate dead skin and remove excess build-up from the scalp.

Supports the hair you already have

Panthenol + Aloe Vera

Condition and hydrate the scalp and hair, helping strands feel softer, stronger and more manageable.

Meet Capixyl™

A biomimetic peptide complex combining Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 with Red Clover Extract.

Capixyl™ has been studied by its ingredient manufacturer in both leave-on and rinse-off hair-care formulations. BioScalp uses Capixyl™ as the targeted active within DHTI Control Shampoo.

Ingredient studies are not the same as clinical testing of the finished BioScalp shampoo, and individual results can vary.

Real routines. Real experiences.

Why customers keep using it

I’ve struggled with thinning along my crown for over a year. After just around 6 weeks using BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo (as part of the kit), I noticed significantly less hair loss in the shower. The scalp feels more balanced and less oily too, and my hair now looks fuller at the top.

Emmanuel, 32, Sydney

My scalp used to be oily and prone to breakouts, especially after workouts. This shampoo gently cleanses without dryness and seems to control oil build‑up. It also reduced irritation and scaliness after a few uses. Rather than stripping, it leaves the scalp feeling balanced. Over time my hair feels thicker and healthier.

Meagan, 41, Gold Coast

I used this mainly as part of the DHTI Control Kit to tackle early signs of hair thinning. After about eight weeks, my parting line looked noticeably denser and there was less hair in the drain. It’s not a miracle solution, but for early-stage thinning and hormonal hair loss, it’s been a solid, science‑backed addition to my routine.

James, 39, Townsville

What is DHT and why is it associated with thinning hair?

DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, is an androgen hormone made when the body converts testosterone using an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. DHT has several normal roles in the body, but it is also closely associated with pattern hair loss, particularly in people whose hair follicles are genetically sensitive to its effects.

Not every hair follicle responds to DHT in the same way. In people who are predisposed to androgenetic hair loss, certain follicles — commonly around the hairline, temples or crown in men, and through the central part in women — can become increasingly sensitive to androgen activity over time.

This can lead to a gradual process known as follicle miniaturisation. With each hair-growth cycle, affected follicles may produce finer, shorter and less visible hairs. The change usually happens slowly, which is why pattern thinning may first appear as reduced density, a widening part or more scalp becoming visible rather than sudden hair loss.

This is different from temporary shedding. Events such as illness, significant stress, hormonal changes or nutritional deficiencies can sometimes push more hairs than usual into the shedding phase of the hair cycle. In these cases, the follicle itself may remain capable of producing a normal hair once the underlying trigger is resolved. Pattern hair loss, by comparison, involves progressive changes to the follicle over repeated growth cycles.

It is also important to remember that scalp care is only one part of managing thinning hair. Keeping the scalp clean and well cared for can support a healthy environment for existing hair, but shampoo alone cannot address every cause of hair loss. Genetics, hormones, nutrition, medical conditions, medications and other factors can all play a role.

If you notice persistent shedding, rapid hair loss, bald patches or a significant change in hair density, speak with a GP, dermatologist or other qualified healthcare professional to investigate the underlying cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo used for?

BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo is designed for people concerned about thinning hair and hair fall. It combines scalp cleansing with Capixyl™, a peptide and red clover complex used in hair-care formulations. It can form part of your regular scalp-care routine, alongside professional advice if your hair thinning is progressing.

Does DHT blocking shampoo actually work?

A shampoo marketed as “DHT blocking” should not be assumed to stop hair loss or regrow hair. Its effectiveness depends on the finished formula and the evidence supporting it. BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo contains Capixyl™. Scalp care is one part of managing thinning hair.

What is Capixyl™ in BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo?

Capixyl™ combines Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 with red clover extract, which contains a compound called biochanin A. It is an ingredient complex developed for scalp and hair-care formulations. In BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo, it sits alongside cleansing and conditioning ingredients as part of a routine for thinning hair.

Can women and men use BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo?

Yes. BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo is suitable for both women and men concerned about thinning hair. However, a widening part, thinning crown or receding hairline can have different underlying causes. A GP or dermatologist can help identify the reason for your hair loss and whether you need treatment beyond shampoo.

How often should I use BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo?

The shampoo is formulated for daily use. Choose a washing frequency that suits your scalp’s oiliness, your hair type and how your scalp feels after washing. Follow the directions on your bottle, and reduce the frequency if you experience dryness. Persistent itching or irritation is a reason to stop using it and seek advice.

How do I use BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo?

Apply to a wet scalp, massage gently with your fingertips and rinse thoroughly, following the directions on the bottle. Avoid scratching or vigorous rubbing. If your lengths need extra conditioning, follow with conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends.

How long does it take to see results?

There is no guaranteed timeline for reduced hair fall or visible regrowth from this shampoo. How clean or manageable your hair feels is different from a change in hair density. If thinning continues, seek advice rather than waiting for a shampoo to resolve it. Understanding the cause helps you choose an appropriate approach.

Can I use it on colour-treated hair?

Yes. BioScalp DHTI Control Shampoo is suitable for colour-treated hair. If your lengths are dry or bleached, pair it with a conditioner suited to your hair’s needs. Follow your colourist’s aftercare instructions, particularly after a fresh colour or chemical service.

Can DHT shampoo cause side effects or scalp irritation?

Any shampoo can cause irritation or an allergic reaction in some people. Check the full ingredient list if you have known sensitivities. Stop using the product if you develop redness, burning or persistent itching. If you have an existing scalp condition, ask your GP or dermatologist before changing your routine.

Do I need the full BioScalp DHTI Control Kit?

You can purchase the shampoo on its own or choose the BioScalp DHTI Control Kit for the three-step routine: Scalp Cleanser before shampooing, DHTI Control Shampoo, then Advanced Scalp Tonic as a leave-in step. The kit brings the products together for those who prefer a complete scalp-care routine.
